The Solitaire Hotel

R T Nagar is a busy area and we are right in the middle of it. Running a hotel like this means there is always something going on. Someone is checking in late at night or another person is asking about where to find good food nearby. We spend our days making sure the rooms are ready and the lobby looks decent. It is not always quiet here, you can hear the sounds of the city outside, but that’s Bangalore for you. The staff here are mostly local people who know the streets well. We don't have a big corporate team, just regular folks trying to make sure the guests have what they need for the night. Sometimes the lift acts up or a light bulb goes out, and we just fix it. We have seen all kinds of people walk through these doors over the years. Some are here for work and others are just passing through. We don’t spend a lot of time on fancy talk. We just focus on the basics like clean sheets and a working shower. It can be tiring, standing on your feet for hours, but it’s the job we chose. The morning shift starts early when the sun is barely up, getting the coffee ready and helping people check out so they can catch their flights. It is just a normal hotel life here in this part of Bangalore, nothing more and nothing less. It stays busy like that.
