The Mushroom Production & Distribution

The Mushroom Production & Distribution operates out of an industrial shed in the Venkataswamy Reddy Layout. Specifically, we’re at 362/1 in the 8th Block, Koramangala VI Bk. It’s an interesting place to work because it’s a bit hidden away from all the fancy cafes and shops that people usually associate with Koramangala. Inside the shed, it stays quite cool and a bit damp, which is exactly how the mushrooms like it. We spend our early mornings checking the beds and getting the crates ready for the delivery vans. It’s a very hands-on job. Your clothes usually end up smelling like compost and wet wood by the end of the shift. The layout can be a bit confusing for new drivers because of how the blocks are numbered, so we often have to stand out by the gate to wave them in. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just an industrial space filled with racks and bags of growing medium. Sometimes things don't grow as fast as we want, or the weather gets too hot, and we have to adjust everything. It’s just me and a couple of guys making sure everything is distributed on time to the markets. It’s honest work, even if it’s a bit messy and we’re always dealing with mud and water. We’ve been in this 8th Block spot for quite a while now and we know the neighbors well.
