The Leela Palace

The Leela Palace is over on 693 3rd Cross Church Road in Murugesh Palya. Most people know this part of Bangalore because it’s tucked away but still quite busy with all the traffic coming through. We are right there near the junction. It’s a large building and we have a lot of staff running around at all hours of the day and night. Being near Church Road means there’s always something happening outside the gates. We spend a lot of time making sure everything looks decent for the people coming in. The neighborhood has changed a lot over the years but we have stayed right here. It’s a lot of work keeping a place like this going. We have different shifts and the kitchen is almost always doing something. You can smell the food cooking if you stand in the right spot near the back. We aren't trying to be fancy in how we talk about ourselves, we just do the work. The hallways are long and there is always a bulb to change or a floor to mop. It’s just how it is. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit of a mess but we deal with it. The staff mostly comes from around this area or stays in the housing nearby. We see a lot of different people coming through the doors. Some are in a hurry and others have all the time in the world. We just try to keep things orderly.
