The Lalit Ashok

The Lalit Ashok is located over at Kumara Kurba High Grounds in Bangalore. It is a big place with lots of trees around, which is nice because the city can get so loud and dusty. I’ve worked here for a bit and it’s always a mix of people coming through the lobby. Sometimes we have big groups and other times it’s just someone looking for a quiet spot to sit. The building itself has been around for a long time so you can see some wear and tear if you look closely at the corners or the carpet in the back hallways. We spend a lot of time walking around making sure the lights are working and the chairs are in the right spots. The gardens out back take up a lot of work but they look decent most of the year. My desk is usually covered in papers and notes from the night shift people. We try to keep the coffee hot for the guests but sometimes the machine gets fussy. It’s a lot of walking back and forth between the different floors. On rainy days the lobby gets a bit messy with all the umbrellas and wet shoes but we just mop it up as we go. It’s not a perfect setup but it works for what we need and the staff here mostly gets along fine. We just try to get through the daily checklist before the sun goes down.
