The Chancery , Bangalore

Even though the name says Bangalore, this specific spot of ours is actually up in the Nilgiris, on Coonoor Road in Kotagiri. The address is Vijaya Villa, number 18/392. It's a lot different from the city. The air is much thinner here and it gets quite cold at night. We spend our days managing the property and making sure the rooms are ready for whoever arrives. It’s an old-style building, not one of those modern concrete blocks. We have a lot of wooden furniture that we have to polish every now and then. The road outside can be a bit winding, so people usually arrive a little tired. We don't have a big flashy sign. It’s more of a quiet villa vibe. There’s a lot of green around us, and sometimes you can hear the birds more than the cars. We don’t have a massive staff, just a few of us who handle the cooking and the cleaning. It’s a lot of work keeping an old place like this running, especially when the weather turns rainy. We mostly just focus on keeping the place warm and the tea hot. People come here to get away from the noise, so we try not to make too much of it ourselves. It's a practical way of living up here in the hills.
