We are located right on Old Madras Road. If you’ve ever driven down this way, you know how the traffic can be. Our shop, Textures Fabrics And Kurtis, is where we keep stacks of cloth and ready-to-wear kurtis. It’s a place full of different colors and feels. We spend a lot of time sorting through bolts of fabric. Some are soft, some are heavy, and we try to have a bit of everything for people who like to sew their own clothes. We also have the finished kurtis for those who just want to grab something and go. The shop can get a bit disorganized when we have a lot of customers looking through the piles, but we tidy up every evening. Old Madras Road is a main artery for the city, so we see all kinds of people coming in. It’s just a local business. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just know what fabrics look good and which ones last. Sometimes we spend hours just talking to someone about a specific pattern. It’s a nice way to spend the day. We have been here for a while and have seen the road change quite a bit. Despite the noise from the traffic outside, it’s usually pretty calm inside among the rows of fabric. We just keep doing what we do, one yard of cloth at a time. It's a simple living but we like the feel of the cloth.
