If you have ever been to Mamulpet, you know how the lanes are. Our shop is at number 64 in the Maruthi Complex. It is a tight squeeze getting through the crowd sometimes, especially on weekends when everyone is out looking for deals. We have been here for years, just doing our thing among all the other shops. It is loud outside with the vendors shouting and the carts moving through the narrow paths. Inside, we have shelves piled high with all sorts of small items. It looks a bit messy to a stranger, but we know exactly where every pin and ribbon is kept. The lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for us. We open early because that is when the wholesale buyers are moving around. By noon, the heat starts to build up, so we usually have a tea from the stall next door. There are no big signs or bright lights here. Just a wooden counter and a lot of boxes. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit there in the dim light until it comes back on. It is a busy life in Mamulpet. We see hundreds of faces every day, mostly people looking for specific things for their homes or small businesses. We don't spend money on decor because the goods take up all the space anyway. It is just a regular shop run by regular people who know the market well.
