Sri Lakshmi Hard Ware

Our hardware shop is at 23/19, 4th A Main, right on Thaverekere Main Road in the Chickadugodi Extension. It’s a bit of a long address to remember, but we are near Dharmaram College and the 5th Main of Kammanahalli. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things like nails, screws, hammers, and plumbing pipes. It’s one of those places where you have to know exactly where everything is or you’ll get lost in the aisles. I spend a lot of my time climbing ladders to reach boxes on the top shelves. We get a lot of local residents coming in because their tap is leaking or they need a new lock for the door. It’s a noisy part of town with the college nearby and all the traffic on Thaverekere Road. We don't have any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is just kept in notebooks or remembered. The shop gets a bit hot in the afternoons, but the doors stay open so people can walk right in. It’s a very local feel here. We know the plumbers and electricians who work in this neighborhood quite well. We just try to keep the basic things people need for their homes in stock. It’s a straightforward business, and we like the bustle of this part of Bangalore.
