We set up Sri Balaji Tours & Travels a good few years back in Tula Plaza. It’s that building right across from the Canara Bank on Jawahar Road here in Ghatkopar East. If you know the Basavanagudi area, you’ve probably walked past us a hundred times. The office is basically just a couple of desks and some old maps on the wall, but it works for us. We handle a lot of the usual travel things like booking cars or sorting out bus tickets for people heading out of town. It gets pretty loud outside with the traffic on Jawahar Road, but we’re used to it by now. Usually, one of us is here from morning till late evening. We aren't doing anything flashy or fancy. It’s mostly just sitting down with neighbors and figuring out the best way for them to get to where they’re going. Sometimes the computer acts up or the phone rings off the hook, but that’s just how it goes in a small office. We’ve got a regular group of people who stop by just to say hello or ask about prices for their next trip. We keep a stack of brochures that are probably a bit dusty, but the information is still good. It's a simple operation. We like being part of the Ghatkopar community and having a shop that people feel they can just walk into without making an appointment or dealing with a corporate call center.
