Software Engineer

I’m based at H. No. 86 on the 10th Main in BTM Layout, first stage. Bangalore is a big city for software engineers, and being in BTM means I’m right in the middle of everything. The house is a bit old, but it has character and enough space for my computers and books. I spend a lot of time sitting in my chair, probably more than is healthy, but that’s the job. I don’t have a big mission statement or any corporate goals. I just take the projects as they come and try to write clean code that doesn’t break the next day. Sometimes I spend hours looking for a missing semicolon, and that’s just the reality of it. The neighborhood is pretty lively, with lots of students and other professionals around. It’s nice to step out for a walk on the main road when I need a break from the screen. My workspace is a bit cluttered with cables and half-empty water bottles, but I know where everything is. It’s an honest way to make a living. I don’t try to pretend I’m some big company with hundreds of employees. It’s just me working out of this house in 560029, making sure things work the way they’re supposed to for the people I work with. It’s simple, it’s local, and it keeps me busy. I prefer this small-scale approach over the stress of a large firm.
