If you head down the Jaigaon Kalchini Road Highway towards the Madhu Tea Estate, you’ll find Shubham. We’ve been set up here in West Bengal for a while, right where the greenery starts to get thick. It’s a different kind of place to work because you’ve got the highway on one side and the quiet of the tea gardens on the other. Our building is pretty simple and we don’t spend much on fancy decorations. Mostly, we are just busy with the daily tasks that come with running a business in this part of the country. The dust from the road gets in everywhere no matter how much we sweep, but that’s just life on the highway. We have a small team and we all know each other’s families and stories. Sometimes we take a break and just look out at the hills when the weather is clear. We don't have high-tech gadgets or a big fancy board room, just some solid desks and enough light to see what we are doing. The work involves a lot of talking to locals and handling supplies that move up and down the road. It can be a bit slow when the monsoon rains come down hard, but we just keep the doors open and do what we can. It’s a practical life here, far away from the big city noise, and we wouldn't have it any other way. We just keep our heads down and get the job done daily.
