Our workshop is tucked away in Vadava Talavadi, right in the Bhalvado area of Bhavnagar. It’s an industrial spot, so there’s always a lot of noise from the machines and the trucks passing by. Shree Gayatri Ind. has been our main thing for years. We don’t have a front desk or anyone to answer phones in a professional way. Usually, whoever is closest to the phone just picks it up. We do a lot of the heavy lifting ourselves. The floor is covered in scraps and metal bits, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit hot inside the shed during the summer, but we’ve got a few big fans that help a little. We handle different kinds of fabrication and industrial work. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. Most of the guys here have grease on their hands by nine in the morning. We take our tea together in the afternoon near the back gate. It’s a small team, mostly people from the neighborhood. We focus on getting the orders out on time, even if we have to stay late some nights when a machine breaks down. It’s honest work and it keeps the lights on. The neighbors are mostly other small shops like ours, so we all help each other out when someone needs a tool or an extra hand for a few minutes.
