Shree Chamunda Novelty

Our shop, Shree Chamunda Novelty, is on the first floor of the Ramesh Laxmi Building. We are located in Shukrawar Peth on D P Road in Balepet. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs but it’s much quieter than being right on the street level. We have a lot of plastic items, gift articles, and some small electronics. The space is a bit cramped because we have so many boxes arriving every week from the suppliers. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the aisles get a bit blocked when we are restocking. I’ve been working here since my uncle opened the place. We see a lot of different people coming through Balepet every day. Some are looking for wholesale prices and others just want a single item for their house. We have some old metal fans that keep the air moving, though it still gets quite warm in the summer months. Our counter is right by the door so we can see everyone coming in. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our sales or inventory. We just write everything down in a big red book. It’s how we’ve always done it. The building itself is quite old and the paint is peeling in some corners. But we have lots of different things that keep people coming back up those stairs. We usually stay open until the sun goes down and the street lights come on. It is a simple business.
