You can find us at the Shanmuga Complex on J. M. Road. We are up on the 1st floor, specifically at No. 104/1 and 2. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s quieter up there than it is down on the main road. The complex itself has a lot going on, so you might have to look around for the right staircase. Once you get inside our units, it’s mostly just shelves of silk and some chairs for people to sit. We spend a lot of time unfolding and folding things back up. The fabric has a specific smell to it, that real silk scent, which fills the whole room. Sometimes we have tea delivered from the stall downstairs while we work. It’s not a showroom with glass cases or anything like that. It’s more of a workspace where we keep our inventory. We often have the windows open to let some air in, even if the J. M. Road noise comes in with it. My brother and I manage the daily stuff, from checking the quality of the threads to making sure the orders go out on time. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop. People usually find us through someone they know. It’s a practical way to work. We just focus on what’s in front of us each day at the complex.
