At 66 Neelasandra 4th Cross, the space is much smaller than it looks from the outside. Savitha Patil S is the name on the registration, but mostly it is just a place where we get the daily work done without much fuss. The 4th Cross is a narrow lane, so if a large vehicle comes through, everyone has to pull back onto the sidewalk to let it pass. We have a small window that looks out onto the street, and I spend a lot of time watching the local cats sleep on the parked bikes during the afternoon. The interior is very simple, just a couple of chairs and a wooden table that wobbles if you lean on it too hard. We have got stacks of paper everywhere, and I really should get around to filing them properly one of these days. Neelasandra is a lively place, and there is always someone shouting or a bike horn going off nearby. It is a very different vibe from the newer, polished parts of the city. We do not have any air conditioning, just a big pedestal fan that we move around depending on where we are sitting. Most of our day is spent handling small tasks and talking to the people who live in the neighborhood. It is a bit cramped, especially when we get a lot of deliveries at once, but we have managed to make it work. (244 words)
