We are Safran Aerospace India, and you can find us tucked away on Pag Kaskar Lane in Chiplun, Maharashtra. It is a bit of a different setting than the big industrial hubs, but we have our own way of doing things here. The workshop is where we spend the bulk of our time. It’s a practical space filled with tools, parts, and the smell of metal and grease. Chiplun gets very hot and humid, especially during the monsoon months, so the work can be a bit draining sometimes. We don’t have a fancy glass office or a big sign out front. It is mostly just a group of us who know how to handle the machinery and follow the technical drawings we are given. Most of the staff lives locally, so we all know each other pretty well. We have our tea breaks together and talk about the news or the weather while the machines are cooling down. The lane outside is narrow and can get a bit muddy when it rains, which makes it a bit of a hassle for the delivery trucks coming in. We don’t worry about making the place look like a showroom; we just care about whether the parts are made correctly and if the measurements are right. It’s honest work that requires a lot of patience. We just keep our heads down, focus on the specs, and make sure we don't make any silly mistakes during the shift.
