Safe Tool Mfg Co. is based at No 64/3 on the second floor of India House. You can find India House right on Nr Road. Being on the second floor means we get a bit of a climb every morning, but it’s fine once you’re up here. The building is older, but it’s sturdy and has plenty of character. We’ve set up our manufacturing tools and benches throughout the space. Nr Road is always packed with traffic and people moving about, so there’s never a quiet moment if the windows are open. We’ve been making tools here for quite some time now. It’s a dusty job sometimes, but we don’t mind getting our hands dirty. The crew is small, just a handful of us who know how to run the machines. We don’t really have a fancy reception area or anything like that. When you walk in, you’re basically right in the middle of the workspace. It’s practical and works for us. We try to stay focused on the orders we have and keep the machines in good shape. Living in this part of the city means everything is close by, which is handy. We aren’t interested in sounding like a big corporation because we just aren’t one. We are just a local shop in India House doing what we know how to do best, which is making tools. Some days are longer than others, especially when a machine acts up, but we manage to get things sorted out eventually. It’s just part of the job.
