S R S Travels

We sit here at number 321 on Tippu Sultan Palace Road in Kalasipalyam. It is a busy place, always a lot of noise from the buses and people walking by outside the door. S R S Travels has been in this spot for a while now. Most days start early with the shutter going up and the smell of the nearby tea shops coming in. We spend a lot of time on the phone or just talking to folks who walk in off the street asking about bus timings to different places. The desks are a bit cluttered with papers and old ledgers, but we know where everything is. The fans overhead keep things moving when it gets hot in the afternoons. Sometimes the traffic on the road gets backed up all the way past the palace, and we just watch it from the window while we work. It’s not a fancy office, just a place to get tickets and figure out travel plans. We have a couple of chairs for people to sit while they wait. The floor gets dusty because of the road work nearby, so we have to sweep it out a few times a day. It is just how things are here in this part of town. We keep the lights on until late evening when the last of the big buses usually head out. There is a calendar on the wall that is always a month behind because we forget to flip it. The water dispenser in the corner makes a loud gulping sound every time someone uses it.
