S. J. Auto Engineering Works

If you’re driving along BM Road in Thanneer Halla, you might spot S. J. Auto Engineering Works. We are just a local engineering shop that focuses on vehicle repairs and custom metal work. The place is basically a large shed with a concrete floor that’s seen plenty of spills over the years. We’ve got a couple of welding sets and a heavy-duty hoist. Most of the time, it’s just three of us working here. It gets really hot under the tin roof when the sun is out, but we’re used to it by now. We don't spend money on advertising or shiny signs. The one we have is a bit faded from the rain. We get a lot of trucks coming through because of the main road. Sometimes they break down nearby and crawl into our yard. We do what we can to get them back on their way. It’s not always easy work, and sometimes we’re here late into the night trying to fix a stubborn axle. There’s always a pile of old parts in the corner that we might use for scrap. We don't have a computer for billing; we just write everything down in a big register. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. We know the neighbors and the tea seller across the street. It’s a quiet life until the hammers start going. We just keep our heads down and work. We don't want any fuss, just the job done.
