R.L.Jalappa Institute Of Technology

The R.L. Jalappa Institute of Technology has its roots here in Malleshwaram, Bangalore. We are tucked away at the 5th Cross in Gayatri Nagar, which is a busy little part of the city. I am the son of Lingappa S. Unnibhavi and I help look after the daily things that keep the institute moving forward. Working in a place like Bangalore means there is always a lot of noise from the street and students coming in and out at all hours. Our office in C-Block on the 6th Main is where most of the planning happens. It is full of old files and textbooks and the smell of coffee from the nearby stalls. We deal with all sorts of things, from student registrations to fixing the computers in the labs. Malleshwaram is an old neighborhood and it has a certain way of doing things that we really like. The streets are narrow and crowded, but it feels like home to us. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment in the main office, just what we need to get the job done and help the kids get through their exams. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet gets slow, and we just have to wait it out like everyone else in the area. It is a lot of responsibility keeping an institute running, but seeing the students graduate and find good jobs makes all the long hours in Gayatri Nagar worth it. We just take it one day at a time here.
