Ramdev Fancy Stores is right at 835 Rajarajeshwari Nagar. If you live around here you probably know the building since it's easy to spot. We have all sorts of small things packed onto the shelves and sometimes it feels like we are running out of room but we manage. My family helps out with the daily tasks like checking the new boxes that come in and making sure the displays aren't falling over. It gets pretty lively during the festival seasons when everyone wants something new or a gift for someone. We don't use any fancy systems to keep track of things, we just know where everything is by memory. If someone asks for a specific color of thread or a certain type of clip we usually find it in a minute. The shop is small and can get a bit cramped when three or four people are inside at once but that’s part of the charm I guess. We like being in RR Nagar because the people are friendly and we’ve made a lot of friends over the years. It’s not just about selling stuff, it’s about being part of the street. We stay open until late most nights because that's when people have time to browse. There is no big corporate office or anything like that here. Just us behind the counter and a lot of items to look through.
