Radio Mirchi 98.3 Fm (The Times Of India Group)

We’re up on the 3rd floor of the ENIL building here in Bangalore. Being part of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, you might expect something very loud and flashy, but the office is actually pretty grounded. It belongs to the Times of India Group, so there’s always people coming and going. The 3rd floor is where we spend our time. It’s a mix of studios and just regular desk space. You can hear the hum of the equipment if it’s quiet enough. Bangalore traffic is always a topic of conversation around the water cooler here. The office has a lot of wires and soundproofing in some rooms, but the rest of it is just normal desks and chairs. It gets a bit chaotic when there’s a big show going on or if something news-related breaks. We don’t really have a lot of decorations on the walls, just some old posters and schedules pinned up. The elevators in the building are sometimes a bit slow, so a lot of us just take the stairs to the third floor. It’s a practical workspace for a radio station. We have people working all sorts of shifts, so the lights are rarely off. It’s not a polished corporate suite. It’s a place where things actually happen, sometimes a bit messily. We’ve got coffee machines that get a lot of use and plenty of paperwork scattered around the place. It’s a busy environment but we like it that way.
