Presently Not Working

You can find me over in JP Nagar 4th Phase, specifically on the 2nd Cross in Dollars Colony. It’s a pretty well-known area in Bangalore, and it has stayed relatively green compared to the rest of the city. I’m in a small building that sits right on the corner. The stairs are a bit steep, and the light in the hallway is usually burned out, but once you’re inside, it’s a decent place to spend the day. I’ve lived in this city long enough to remember when this area was mostly empty lots, so it’s strange to see how crowded it’s become. My work setup, which I call Presently Not Working, is just a couple of tables pushed together. I don’t like things to be too organized because I can never find anything when it’s tucked away in a drawer. I spend my hours typing away and drinking way too much coffee from the kitchen. The water heater in the bathroom makes a loud groaning noise, which usually tells me it’s time to stop working for a bit. It’s a quiet life, mostly just me and the sounds of the neighborhood dogs barking at the gate. I don’t have any fancy plans; I just want to get through my list of things to do so I can go for a walk in the evening. It’s a very ordinary existence, but it works for me in this little corner of Bangalore.
