Playback Productions

Playback Productions is up on the fifth floor, room 501, at Paras Market in Murugeshpalya. It’s right on Appaji Rao Lane, near the C T S Cross by Old Airport Road. The elevator in this building is a bit slow and noisy, so some people just take the stairs. Our space is filled with cables, monitors, and some old chairs we’ve had for a decade. It’s not a shiny, high-tech studio like you see in movies. It’s a working space where we spend a lot of hours in the dark editing or recording stuff. The market downstairs is always loud with people selling things, but we’ve tried to soundproof the walls as much as we could. Sometimes you can still hear a horn honking from the airport road. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and you'll see someone hunched over a computer. We drink a lot of coffee to keep going during long nights. It’s just a few of us who like making things. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that on the wall. We just have a calendar with deadlines marked in red ink. It gets a bit cramped when we have a few people over, but we make it work. It’s a bit of a climb to get here, but the view of the traffic from the window is actually quite nice when you take a break.
