We run our holiday business from Karukail House in Melangot. It is located in Kanhangad, which is part of the Kasaragod district in Kerala. Being in a house makes it feel more personal than a regular office. We have been here for a while, looking after travel plans for people who want to see the backwaters or the hills. The area around Melangot is quite peaceful with plenty of trees. We sit on the porch sometimes to discuss bookings. We don't have a big neon sign outside, just a small one near the gate. Our team is small, mostly just family and a couple of neighbors who help out with the computer work. Kasaragod is a beautiful place, and we like showing it to others. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts during the monsoon, so we keep candles and lanterns ready. We don't use those high-pressure sales tactics. We just talk about what places are nice to visit and how much the car rental will cost. Most of our clients come through friends who have stayed with us before. It’s a slow and steady kind of business. We make sure the drivers we hire are safe and know the local roads well. Life at Karukail House is quiet, and we like it that way while we help others plan their trips. It’s just how we do things here in Kerala and we hope to stay here.
