Perfect Image

Perfect Image is on Buddha Vihar Road in Cox Town. We are on the first floor, situated right above the Sports Zone shop. You can often hear the sound of people talking about cricket gear or footballs downstairs. Cox Town has a bit of an old Bangalore feel to it, which I like. The shop is at number 17. It is a simple place with a few chairs and a big window that looks out onto the street. I spend a lot of time looking out that window when I’m not busy. You can see the trees and the people walking their dogs or going to the market. Inside, the walls are painted a neutral color. I’ve got my tools organized on a small wooden trolley. The sink is in the corner and sometimes the water pressure isn't great, but we manage. I start my day by opening the shutters and letting some fresh air in. The shop doesn't have any fancy decorations, just the essentials for hair work. Most of my regulars have been coming here for years. They live in the bungalows and flats around Buddha Vihar Road. We talk about local news or just stay silent while I work. It’s a steady kind of life. When the sun starts to set, the street gets a bit quieter, and that’s when I start cleaning up to head home.
