Our place is located at No. 21 E-1 within the Peenya Industrial Area. If you know this part of town, you know it's all factories and heavy trucks moving around. Jeans Knit is just one of the many buildings here, and we don't stand out much from the outside. The walls are a plain grey and there isn't any fancy signage. Inside, it's a different story because we have the knitting machines going constantly. The vibration is something you feel in your feet all day long. We mostly deal with the production side of things, so there are always stacks of knitted material waiting to be moved. It’s a very practical workspace. We have a small corner with a couple of desks where we handle the paperwork, but most of our time is spent on the factory floor. The air smells like machine oil and new cotton, which is something you just get used to. We start our shift early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. By the time the afternoon tea break rolls around, everyone is ready for a few minutes of quiet. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's just a group of us who know how to run the equipment and keep the production moving. We keep our own records in big binders and try to make sure everything stays on track. It’s honest, hard work in a busy industrial zone.
