Patel Novelty

Patel Novelty is over at 1227 9th Main in Vijaya Nagar. We’ve been here for a good number of years, and the shop has stayed pretty much the same. We sell all kinds of novelty items, household goods, and small gifts. It’s a typical neighborhood store where you can find anything from a new lock for your gate to a birthday card. The 9th Main road is usually busy with traffic, but our shop is a familiar sight for anyone living in this part of Vijaya Nagar. We don't have a computer system for our sales, we just use a calculator and write things down in a book. It works fine for us. The shelves are packed tight, and sometimes you have to move one thing to see another. It’s a bit of a hunt sometimes, but that’s part of the charm. We open up early in the morning and we don't really close until late evening. It’s just me and my brother running the place most of the time. We aren't trying to compete with the big malls. We just want to be the place where the locals can come and find what they need quickly. We know many of our customers by name, and we usually have a few minutes to chat about the weather or the local news while we pack their items.
