Parvez Ahmed

I’m usually found at B 19 in Gandhi Nagar, located within the Hindustan Complex on Udhna Magdalla Road. Being near the Abhinay Theater means there are always people moving around outside. My name is Parvez Ahmed and this is where I handle my business. The complex is quite busy with many different shops and offices crammed together. My space is small but it has everything I need. I have a couple of chairs and a sturdy table where I do most of my reading and writing. The walls are mostly bare except for a calendar and a clock that’s always five minutes fast. I’ve been in this spot for a while now and I’ve gotten used to the noise of the main road. The theater brings in a lot of crowds in the evenings, so it can get a bit loud with people talking and cars parking. I usually open up around ten in the morning after the worst of the traffic has passed. I do most of the work myself, though sometimes a cousin comes by to help out if things get backed up. It’s a straightforward life here. I know the other shop owners in the complex and we often share a tea in the afternoon. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s my routine and it works for me. I prefer being in the middle of all the action here.
