Padma Perfumery Works

We are over in Chamarajpet, on the 2nd Main road at door number 147. This is one of the older parts of Bangalore and it has a lot of history. Padma Perfumery Works has been operating out of this same building for a very long time. It is a busy street with a lot of old houses and small family shops mixed together. Our place is tucked right in there. We have a lot of wooden shelves that are sagging a bit under the weight of all the raw materials we keep. It smells like incense and heavy oils most of the time. We have a few old ceiling fans that hum all day long. It gets quite warm in the small rooms during the afternoons. We do not have a lot of extra space, so we have to be clever with how we stack the boxes. The staff is mostly local people who live around this neighborhood. We know each other’s families and kids. It is a very relaxed atmosphere here, even when we are busy with a big order. We do not use a lot of computers for the work. We mostly just use ledgers and handwritten notebooks to keep track of our stock. It is the way we have always done it since the beginning. Sometimes the heavy rain makes the street outside a bit of a mess with mud, but we just keep working and doing our daily thing.
