Our office is tucked away in Richmond Town on the 1st Main. It’s building 43/1. It’s a pretty quiet street compared to the rest of the city, which is nice for getting work done. We started Oriental Software a while back with just three people and a few old laptops. Now we have a few more desks crammed into the space. We spend most of our time writing code and testing things for clients. It’s not the most exciting-looking office. There are some old posters on the walls and a stack of empty boxes in the corner that we keep meaning to throw away. The kitchen area is just a small kettle and a jar of instant coffee. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or a sign that lights up. Most people find us because they know someone who worked with us before. We usually arrive around 9:30 in the morning, though some of the developers stay quite late if there’s a bug they can’t quite figure out. The chairs aren't the most comfortable, but we’ve got good internet and that’s what matters most for what we do. It’s a bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop, so most of us ride bikes to work. We just keep our heads down and get the software built as best as we can. It’s a regular job for us and we like it.
