Olive Bar And Kitchen is down in Kerala, specifically in a place called Mulavarickal in Kalady. The address is Marottichodu, Eranakulam. It is a very green and quiet part of the state, which makes it a nice spot for a kitchen and a bar. We have a simple building that we’ve tried to make comfortable for everyone. It’s not a high-end luxury lounge with polished floors. It’s more of a local spot where the wood is a bit worn and the fans are always spinning. We spend our mornings getting the kitchen ready and our evenings serving drinks. The humidity in Kerala can be tough, so we mostly keep things open to catch the breeze. We don't have a corporate office or a board of directors. It’s just us, the staff, and the people who come in for a drink or a meal. We use a lot of local ingredients because that’s what is available in the markets nearby. We don't have a big mission statement or a set of core values. We just want to serve food that tastes okay and keep the beer cold. The area in Marottichodu is quite peaceful, and we like it that way. Most of our regulars are people who live around here. We don't do much in the way of advertising. We just keep the doors open and see who walks in. It’s a simple life running a bar.
