Narayan Suggi

You can find us over at JP Nagar 683/A. We’ve been at this spot for a good while. Narayan Suggi is basically just a local place where we make the kind of food we grew up eating. It’s nothing too complicated. We wake up early to get the pots going and the smell of the cooking usually fills the whole street by mid-morning. The space inside isn't very big, so it gets crowded during the lunch hour. We have these heavy wooden tables that we have to scrub down every night. Sometimes the fans don't work as well as they should when it's really hot out, so we just open the front doors wide. We don't have a printed menu that looks professional; it’s mostly just what we have ready that day. Our staff is mostly cousins and friends from the village. We talk a lot while we work, sometimes a bit too loud, but it keeps the energy up. We aren't trying to be the most popular spot in JP Nagar, we just want to stay open and keep the regulars happy. Sometimes we forget to update the prices or we run out of the main dish before one o'clock. It happens. We just apologize and offer whatever else is left. It’s a bit messy and loud, but it’s our life and we’re happy to be here.
