Nagswamy Associates Engineering & Consultants is based over at 286 Jaya Nagar West. It’s a relatively quiet part of the area, which is helpful when you’re trying to look over engineering plans or talk through a technical problem. Our office isn't one of those high-rise glass buildings you see in the city center. It’s a more traditional space, a bit older, with heavy wooden desks and stacks of blue prints everywhere. We don't really use much in the way of high-tech gadgets unless they are actually necessary for the consulting work. Mostly it’s just us, some calculators, and a lot of pens that always seem to run out of ink at the wrong time. We’ve been doing this for a while, so we’ve seen all sorts of projects come across our desks. We don't put on suits unless there is a very specific reason to do so; usually, we’re just in plain shirts and trousers. The windows look out onto some trees, which is a nice change from the usual industrial views. We spend a lot of our day just talking through ideas or sketching things out on scrap paper. It’s not a fast-paced environment where everyone is running around. We prefer to think things through properly. If someone has a question about a design or a regulation, we just pull out the files and look it up together. It’s a steady, thoughtful way to spend the work week.
