If you ever find yourself on Lalbagh Road, you’ve probably seen the Passport Office. We are right opposite that, in the Pride Hulkul building. Our office is No. 116 on the first floor. It is a busy stretch of road, and there are always people standing around outside waiting for their appointments. Inside, we are focused on engineering work. We have a lot of blueprints and technical drawings scattered across the desks. It isn't a very tidy place, but we know where everything is. The noise from the traffic outside can be a bit much, but the building is sturdy enough to dull it down. We have been here for a number of years. We do a lot of international coordination, which means someone is usually in the office late because of the time differences. It’s a practical workspace without any unnecessary decorations. We have a small pantry where we make tea, and that’s about as fancy as it gets. Most of our day is spent on calculations and talking to contractors. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We don't put on any acts here; we are just engineers doing our jobs in a busy part of Bangalore. Being on the first floor is convenient since we don't have to wait for the elevator most of the time. We just get in, do the technical bits, and head home when the sun goes down.
