We run our catering business out of 390 K.H.B. Colony, specifically in the 5th Block of the Bangalore 34 area in Karnataka. It is a busy kitchen environment where we are always prepping vegetables or getting the spices ready for the next big order. We started doing this because we liked cooking and people in the colony kept asking us to make food for their small gatherings and functions. Now, we handle various events around the city, but the heart of the operation is still right here in the KHB Colony. You can usually smell the rice or the sambar from a little way down the street when we are in the middle of a big batch. We don't have a fancy storefront or a marketing team; it’s just us in the kitchen making sure the food tastes like it should. We spend a lot of time loading up the delivery vans and making sure the containers are sealed tight so nothing spills on the way to the venue. The 5th Block is a good place to be based, even if the lanes get a bit narrow when we are trying to move the equipment. It’s hard work, standing on our feet for hours and dealing with the heat from the big stoves, but it feels good when the pots come back empty. We just take things one order at a time and try to keep the knives sharp. The floor gets greasy but we clean it.
