Mukthar Ahmed

My name is Mukthar Ahmed and you can find my office at Kadugondanahalli Vanijya Bhavan Divan Balubhai Road 2391 2. It’s a long address but it’s a well-known building in this part of town. The office itself is pretty basic. I have a desk, a couple of chairs for visitors, and a lot of ledgers. It gets quite busy on Divan Balubhai Road, so there is always the sound of traffic in the background. I’ve been working from this spot for a long time and I know most of the other people in the Vanijya Bhavan building. We share news and talk about the day’s work in the hallways. It’s not a high-tech setup. I still prefer using pen and paper for a lot of my notes, though I do have a computer for the official things. People come to see me because they know I’ve been around Kadugondanahalli for years. I don’t use any fancy language or try to impress anyone with big talk. I just listen to what they need and see how I can help. Sometimes the power goes out in the building and we just light a few candles and keep going. It’s a practical way of doing things.
