Mobile Clinic

Working out of Mysore Road means we see a lot of people passing through every single day. It is a major stretch of road, so there is always the sound of traffic and horns in the background while we work. Our shop is just a small unit along the road where we spend our hours looking at circuit boards and tiny screws. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside once you get all the repair equipment and the spare parts stored on the shelves. We usually have the radio playing quietly while we work to help pass the time. The air can get a bit stuffy in the afternoons, so we keep the door wide open. People stop by because they saw the sign while driving or walking past on their way somewhere else. We fix whatever comes our way, from old button phones to the newer touchscreens. Sometimes we can fix things right away, and other times we have to tell the owner to leave the device with us for a day or two. We do not have a big team, just a couple of us who know our way around a mobile phone's insides. We are not into the corporate style of doing things. We just talk to people like neighbors and tell them what is possible. It is a lot of sitting and focused work, but it is what we do for a living. (241 words)
