I work at the facility here in Whitefield Palms, specifically at No. 9 and 10 in the Epip Zone Phase 1. This part of Whitefield Road is always packed with people and cars, especially during the shift changes. Even though the name on the building is a big one, inside it’s just a lot of us sitting at desks with our headsets on or looking at blueprints. The research and development work happens in these big open halls. It’s a long walk from the main gate to the office blocks. The Epip Zone is a huge area, so it took me a few weeks just to stop getting lost when I first started. We have a canteen that serves okay food, and that’s where most of us catch up. It’s not like what you see in the movies; it’s mostly just regular people trying to figure out technical problems and writing a lot of emails. The air conditioning is always a bit too cold in some rooms and not cold enough in others. We spend hours in meetings talking about parts and software. Traffic on Whitefield Road is a nightmare, so many of us get here early or leave really late just to avoid it. It’s a professional place, but we still have our own little desks with photos and plants to make it feel more like home. It’s a lot of hard work and sometimes things don’t go as planned, but we just keep at it every single day. We just focus on the task in front of us.
