Mercantila Software Services is tucked away in Ashoka Nagar, which is part of Banashankari (or Bsk) 1st Stage in Bangalore. We are at 75/B, 1331, on the 5th Cross. Banashankari is a huge area, but 1st Stage has a very specific feel to it. Our office is right on the 5th Cross, which is a mix of houses and small businesses. It’s a typical Bangalore street with trees lining the sides and the occasional cow wandering past. Working on software here is a bit different than being in the big IT hubs like Electronic City. We are right in the middle of a living neighborhood. The building 75/B isn't a glass tower; it’s a solid, older structure that’s been converted for office use. We have our computers set up in rooms that used to be bedrooms or living areas. It makes the whole work environment feel a lot less formal. Sometimes we go out to the local shops for a coffee break, and you get to know the people living next door. It’s a very human way to run a software firm. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the world, just doing our work from a quiet street in Bsk. The internet is fast, the coffee is nearby, and the commute isn’t too bad if you know the backroads to avoid the main traffic. We just show up and code without making any big fuss about it.
