We deal with a lot of junk here at Jolly Mohalla 39/3. Matal & All Scarps & Batteries Exchange is where people bring their old car batteries when they finally die and won't start the engine anymore. It’s messy work and our clothes always end up with stains by the end of the day but someone has to do it. We take old metal pieces, copper wires, and heavy scraps that people don't want cluttering their garages or shops anymore. The shop is right at 39/3 and it's usually piled high with things waiting to be sorted into different bins. It’s loud because of the trucks coming in and out of the narrow street. Sometimes the neighbors complain about the noise we make with the hammers so we try to keep the heavy lifting to the daytime hours. We exchange old batteries for others and we weigh everything on a big rusted scale out front so everyone can see the weight. It’s a family thing mostly. My brother handles the metal sorting while I talk to the customers and handle the cash. We don't have a website or any of that fancy stuff. People just show up with a truckload of stuff and we figure out the price right there on the spot. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night. The yard is very dusty and your hands will definitely get dirty if you stay too long. We’ve been in this part of Jolly Mohalla for many years now.
