Master Plan

Our office is tucked away in the Kalathur Building at Site No. 1, right on Church Road near Gangamma Circle. It's a lively part of Jalahalli here in Bangalore. We’ve got a small space where we keep our drawing boards and computers. Most of the time, the table is covered in rolls of blueprints and half-empty coffee mugs. Master Plan isn’t some big fancy firm with a lobby or a receptionist. It’s just a place where we sit and figure out how to put buildings together. You can hear the traffic from the circle all day long, but you get used to it after a while. We spend a lot of time arguing over measurements and looking at local zoning rules. It’s a lot of sitting and thinking, then drawing, then changing things again when they don't look right. Sometimes we go out to sites to see how the actual ground looks. The weather in Bangalore helps, though it gets a bit gloomy when it rains and we have to worry about the papers getting damp. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and the neighbors in the building are mostly used to us by now. It’s just a regular working day for us, trying to get the lines straight on the page so someone can actually build something from them later. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't, just regular people who like planning stuff out properly.
