Maruthi News Agencies is located at 62 Malleshwaram Market Yard Road. Being right by the market means things start very early for us, usually while it is still dark outside. The trucks come in with the morning papers and magazines, and it is a rush to get everything sorted before the sun is even up. The smell of fresh ink and paper is something you just get used to after a while. Our shop is in the middle of all that morning chaos with the vegetable sellers and the flower vendors all setting up at the same time. It is a noisy place to work, but it has a lot of energy. I spend most of my time counting stacks and making sure the delivery boys have the right bundles for their routes. The floor is usually covered in plastic straps and old wrappers by noon. We don’t have much in the way of fancy displays, just shelves piled high with whatever came in that morning. It is a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bags and standing on your feet for hours. By the time most people are having their lunch, our busiest part of the day is already over.
