Avenue Road is always a bit of a mess in the mornings, but that is just how it is around here. We are up on the second floor of number 615. Most days I start by unlocking the shutters and checking if the mail came through. It is a bit of a climb up those stairs if you are not used to them. I have been working out of this spot for a long time now. People know me by name usually. The office is not very big, just enough space for the desk and a couple of chairs for whoever stops by. Sometimes it gets noisy outside with the traffic and the carts going by, but you get used to the sound after a week. I usually keep the window slightly open even though the dust comes in. It feels better than sitting in a closed room all day. My father used to say this area is the heart of the city and I think he was right. There is always someone shouting or a horn honking. We just do what needs to be done and head home when the sun goes down. It is a simple life here. I don't see any reason to move somewhere fancy when everything I need is right on this street. Most of my neighbors have been here as long as I have. We help each other out when things get busy. It is just a routine that works for us and I like it that way.
