Working out of Manipal Towers on Airport Road means we’re always right in the middle of all the noise. The traffic out there is constant, but you get used to the sound of the horns after a while. We handle facility management, which basically means we take care of all the things people usually don't notice until something stops working. Leaky pipes, lights going out, or keeping the place clean—that’s our world. We’ve got a decent-sized team here at No. 14. Some of us stay in the office to manage things and a lot of the crew is out at different sites across the city. It’s a lot of coordination to keep things running. My desk is always a mess of different schedules and phone messages written on scraps of paper. We don't really do the fancy marketing stuff. We just focus on making sure the buildings we look after are running like they should be. It’s not very glamorous work, but it’s necessary for everyone. We’ve been in this building for quite some time now. We know the security guards and the folks at the tea stall around the corner. It feels like a little community. Sometimes things go wrong, a repair takes much longer than expected, or a specific part doesn't arrive. We just deal with it as it comes. We’re just regular people trying to keep things organized and functional for our clients. It is simple work, really.
