Mangal Silks

We are located in Pobbathi Market, which is tucked away in Basavanna Lane right off Avenue Road. If you know the area, it is behind the Vysya Bank. The shop itself is usually quite full of stock. We deal mostly in silk fabrics and sarees. It gets very busy around here, especially in the afternoons when the market is at its peak. The lane is quite narrow, so it can be a bit of a squeeze getting through the crowd sometimes. We have been at this address for a long time now. The building is old and doesn't have much in the way of modern decor. We just have our shelves piled high and a few counters for showing the cloth. It’s a bit dusty because of all the fabric, but we try to keep it tidy. Most of our day is spent unfolding and folding back the silks for people who walk in. We don't really do much in the way of fancy displays. It is a straightforward business. We know the other shop owners on the lane and often chat over tea while waiting for the next delivery. The traffic on Avenue Road is always a constant sound in the background. It is just a regular part of life for us here. We open up the shutters every morning and stay until the market starts to wind down in the evening.
