Malakshmi Cloth Centre is our family-run spot located at 12 92 East Park Road in Malleshwaram. This part of Bangalore has a very specific feel to it, with the old trees and the steady flow of people going to the temples or the market. Our shop isn't anything grand, just a regular place where we sell different kinds of cloth. We have been at this East Park Road address for many years, watching the neighborhood change around us. Inside, it smells a bit like new fabric and old wood. We keep a lot of traditional materials because that is what the people around here usually ask for. Whether it’s for a small function or just everyday wear, we usually have a few rolls of something suitable. The shelves are a bit disorganized sometimes, especially after a busy Saturday morning when everyone has been pulling things down to look at the patterns. We don't have a fancy sales pitch. We just show you what we have and let you feel the material for yourself. My father started this and now we just carry it on the same way he did. It’s a simple life, opening the shutters in the morning and closing them once the sun goes down. We know most of the people who walk past our door by sight. It’s just a local cloth centre doing its thing in Malleshwaram without much fuss or noise.
