Mahesh Novelty

Kumbarpet is a tight area with lots of narrow lanes and people everywhere. Our shop, Mahesh Novelty, is located at 17 Ganeshnagri. It’s a small place, but we make the most of every inch of space we have. The walls are covered in displays of all the little things we sell. It can be a bit overwhelming for someone coming in for the first time. We spend a lot of time rearranging the stock to make sure everything fits. The morning starts early here because deliveries have to arrive before the streets get too crowded for trucks. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying boxes. The floor is old stone and it’s seen a lot of foot traffic over the years. We don't have a computer system, just a big ledger where we write down the sales. It works fine for us. Sometimes the power goes out and we just light a few candles and wait for it to come back. Customers don't seem to mind much. Most of them are from the neighborhood and we’ve known them for years. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town, just a place where you can find what you need for your home or project. It’s a bit dusty and crowded, but it’s our place. Mahesh Novelty is just a part of the daily life here in Kumbarpet and we like it that way. We stay open even when it pours outside.
