Mahesh Hardware & Pipes

If you have ever been down Sjp Road, you know how crowded it gets with all the shops and people moving around. Our place at No. 4 is right in the thick of it. It is a small shop but we have managed to pack it full of pipes and hardware items over the years. Half the time, we are just trying to remember where we put a specific sized elbow joint or a particular valve. There is stuff stacked up to the ceiling in some corners. People come in looking for all sorts of things, maybe a leaky pipe at home or a big project they are trying to fix up. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who aren't quite sure what size they need. We just go through the bins until we find something that looks right. It gets really noisy with the traffic outside, so sometimes we have to shout a bit to be heard. We don't have any fancy displays or anything like that. It is just shelves and boxes. My hands are usually a bit dirty from handling the metal and plastic parts all day. We open early because that is when the plumbers like to stop by before they head to their jobs. By the end of the day, the floor is usually covered in dust and bits of tape. We just sweep it up and do it again the next morning. It is a lot of work but it is what we know and how we spend our days.
