Our shop is at No. 5/85, right opposite the old Vysya Bank on Avenue Road. If you’ve been to Avenue Road, you know how tight the space is and how many people are always walking past the door. It’s one of the busiest spots in the city. We’ve been here for quite some time, and the building shows its age a bit. We keep the place running with a small group of us. It’s a family-style environment where things are a bit informal but we get the work done. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling, and we have to use a tall ladder to reach the stuff at the top. It can get pretty cramped when we have a lot of customers in at once. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It’s just us answering the phone and writing down orders in our ledgers. The noise from the street is constant, with the horns and the shouting of vendors outside. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use flashlights to find what we need in the back. People know us for being in this exact spot for years. We handle the daily business as it comes, dealing with suppliers and the local crowd. It’s a simple life on Avenue Road, just keeping the doors open and the stock moving every single day.
